NEW: ZRP dismisses social media reports on ban of social gatherings

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has dismissed false information being peddled on social media that Government has banned all public gatherings ahead of the 44th SADC Heads of State Summit.

In a statement on Friday, ZRP urged the public to observe the country’s laws whilst conducting their various activities.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police dismisses social media postings alleging that the Government of Zimbabwe has banned gatherings due to the forthcoming SADC Summit,” reads the statement.

“The public should dismiss this false information with contempt it deserves.”
