THE OK Zimbabwe Jason Moyo branch in Bulawayo has increased its staff complement to 104 from 60 to cater for improved business after renovating its premises and expanding operational space.

Speaking to Business Chronicle during the official opening of the branch, OK Zimbabwe operations manager, Mr Joseph Mahachi, said the new look supermarket now has improved services and required more personnel hence the recruitment.

He would not specify the quantum of investment but said the branch has recruited 44 new workers to accommodate the bigger space and new departments.

“We have invested a lot in this Jason Moyo branch. As you can see the space is bigger and we have got a new department — the bakery. This is a way of saying thank you to the Bulawayo community because they have been loyal to us,” said Mr Mahachi.

“This investment means we must employ more because we want to cater for the new departments. We have employed 44 new workers to put the figure at 104. We are happy about the move and we intend to employ more people in the future.”

OK Jason Moyo branch now has a bakery section, takeaway, fruit and vegetable segments.

Mr Mahachi said despite the economic challenges experienced in the country, they have managed to stay in business by giving customers value for their money.

Meanwhile, in March this year the retail giant posted an 800 percent profit of $6.1 million for the full year period ended March 31, 2017 compared to $672 000 recorded in the same period last year.

The company said it has put its focus on increasing growth in sales to consolidate earnings, managing overhead costs and improving profitability on the back of a decline in sales and low gross margins that chewed profits in the prior year. — @Kiyaz_Cool
