STEPHEN Cox concluded his participation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this morning after coming fifth in the Men’s Single Sculls Final E at the Vaires-Sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.

The Zimbabwean rower crossed the finish line in a time of 7 minutes 09.34 seconds.

Cox was ranked 29 out of 33 participants.

“I am not sure what to think really, l am quite emotional at the moment. It’s all over, it has all come to an end.

“I feel like I had a good race. I did exactly what I do best, I stuck to my race. Just that the other guys were better on the day. They just showed up, a bit braver than I did and luckily it paid off for them. It’s just, a lot of emotions right now.

“So, it was quite an experience,” said Cox.

Vladislav Yakovlev of Kazakhstan won the Final E in 6 minutes 59.43 seconds.

Tunisia’s Mohamed Taieb was second in 7 minutes 00.31 seconds and Memo Memo of Indonesia came in third place in 7 minutes 02.23 seconds.

Bermuda’s Dara Alizadeh was fourth in 7 minutes 03.12 seconds.
