THE Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has so far paid a total of US$28,7 million to wheat farmers for grain deliveries made since the beginning of the marketing season in April.

This follows payments of US$5 million and US$14,6 million made in the last two weeks.

In a statement released on Thursday, GMB chief executive officer, Dr Edson Badarai, said the ZiG component had since been settled.

“The Grain Marketing Board wishes to advise our esteemed farmers and stakeholders that payments for wheat farmers have been significantly made,” he said.

“To date, wheat payments amounting to USD$28,7 million have been made, while the local currency component was completed sometime back. GMB appreciates the patience of farmers as the last payments are being mobilised.”
