BRAZILIAN star Neymar celebrated his latest day off from World Cup duty – by splashing out one MILLION dollars on a new watch.
Neymar’s fitness battle with a major calf injury saw even Brazil’s President Lula taking a public potshot at him before he returned with a cameo performance in the win that sent Scotland home early.
But the attacker, 34, has caused controversy again by outrageously flaunting his wealth.
Neymar posted pictures of him wearing the Astronomia Dragon & Tiger watch, made of white gold and featuring 286 diamonds.
The design features a hand-sculpted dragon and tiger with depictions of planets made from sapphires and emeralds.
Neymar splashed the cash to buy it directly from American jeweller and watchmaker Jacob Arabo. It added to his already ridiculous collection of time-pieces, now understood to be worth more than £6m ($8m).
They include a limited edition Richard Mille RM 68-01 Cyril Kongo, of which there are only 30 pieces in existence, and which is worth £1.6m on its own. He also has half a dozen watches that cost more than £200,000, including a Casino Tourbillon, an Opera Godfather, an Epic SF24 World Time Titanium and a Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon.
There are also a few rolexes and two custom-made Batman pieces, because of his fixation with the comic superhero.
On the field, he will hope the calf issue is now a thing of the past and that he can rediscover his best form to help Brazil win a sixth World Cup trophy. When at his best, few players in the world can match his ability, and there is a feeling he still has it in him to produce a game-changing moment at some stage of the tournament. — Sun.
