NGEZI High school were the biggest winners in the Commander Zimbabwe National Army schools merit awards at Dzivaresekwa Barracks yesterday.
The event saw several army primary and secondary schools taking part in athletics, soccer, cricket, netball, volleyball and chess. Ngezi came on the podium to collect first prizes in chess, cricket and girls soccer.
The other schools that took part were Inkomo, Induna, Magunje, Masvingo, Para Regiment, Dzivaresekwa and Three Brigade.
Martin Chedondo, who was the guest of honour, said the fourth edition had gone according to plan.
“It has been four long but progressive years since the inception of the programme.
“Our targets were to improve academic performance and improve sporting skills,” Chedondo said.
