NGEZI Platinum Stars have shown midfielder, Denver Mukamba, the exit together with six senior players.
Issa Ali, Anelka Chivandire, Derek Bonnah, Junior Zindoga, Mandlenkosi Mlilo and Last Jesi were deemed excess to requirements by the Mhondoro-based platinum miners.
Mukamba’s role was reduced when Takesure Chiragwi took over from Benjani Mwaruwari, who was fired after serving just four months of his three-year contract.
The 30-year-old was an instant hit when he joined the club, helping the team secure a silver medal in the Chibuku Super Cup after losing the final to FC Platinum after a penalty shootout.
He was the team’s spark plug in last season’s opening four fixtures in which the miners collected seven points before the departure of Rodwell Dhlakama.
His form dipped when Chiragwi was holding fort, but the appointment of Mwaruwari saw his rejuvenation.
He was Mwaruwari’s main man in the rebuilding process.
However, Mwaruwari’s departure proved to be costly for Mukamba, who saw little action and was even excluded five consecutive times in the match-day squad.
That was enough to signal bad blood between him and Chiragwi.
His contract was set to expire at the end of this season, but they decided to discontinue the relationship even before the season started.
Wellington Taderera, who was loaned to ZPC Kariba last season, has also reportedly been offloaded.
They have also retained midfielder, Nigel Makumbe, who was on loan at FC Platinum last season.
Ngezi have promoted six players from their developmental side, Tinashe Mabvudi, Biggie Tamera, Praise Machengeta, Aaron Dzangai, Tinashe Mashaireni and Gerald Bhoko.
