ALL is set for the last qualifying round of the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League’s Axis Solutions Trophy matches today and tomorrow.
Ngezi Platinum Stars Under-19 will host Golden Eagles at Baobab this afternoon while Trojan Stars and Commando Bullets will lock horns at Trojan Mine tomorrow.
The winners of this weekend’s games will proceed to the semi-finals which are scheduled for April 27.
Golden Eagles coach, Gilbert Mushangazhike, whose team lost to Herentals Under-20 in the Harare Metropolitan Independence Trophy final on Monday through penalties, said his charges were ready to face Ngezi Platinum Under-19 today.
“We cannot afford to lose two games in a row and tomorrow (today’s) game is a must-win for us as we failed to win the Harare Metropolitan Province Independence Trophy on Monday.
“The boys are ready and we look forward to a good game as Ngezi Under-19 are a good side with promising young players. We went back to the drawing board and worked on our weaknesses so we will try and put that into practice,” said Mushangazhike.
Ngezi Platinum Stars Under-19 coach, Clifton Kadurira, on the other hand, is positive that they will need to do well at home.
“I think playing at home will come with its advantages but this is a cup game where every team will take it as a final. We are ready as a team and looking forward to the match.
“We have been working in areas where we were coming short in the league and now we have improved in those areas.
“Golden Eagles have been playing well and my boys, as a developmental side, will go into the match to enjoy themselves and gain exposure and experience,” said Kadurira.
