Nguru favourite for Dugmore Trophy

expected to draw top golfers from all parts of the country.
Nguru, who had a good season last year, will be the major drawcard when the two-day 76-hole tournament tees off.
The golfer was in fine form last year as he won four tournaments to emerge as the leading amateur.
He won the Julius Robinson Trophy, the Matabeleland Amateur, Bata Power and Hillside Masters.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Nguru said he was in good touch.
“I have trained well for the game and I am looking forward to it.
“I will try my best to be in contention. As the first major national tournament it may be difficult but it is good that we were practicing even during the off-season break.
“I can see a tight contest at the tournament and I am prepared.
“Competition has improved and there are a lot of good golfers who can play well on their day but I am ready for the challenge,” said Nguru.
Mathew Ncube will be on home course and could emerge triumphant.
Ncube is the defending champion after getting the better Nguru last year.
In-form junior golfer Ben-Follet Smith is also likely to provide a big challenge.
Munashe Madhodha also of Bulawayo, Biggie Chibvuri, Kayman Mandhu, Nicholas Masunga and Tonderai Magaso are some of the players who could make an impact.
