Rising afro-pop singer Nikki Magunda is set to headline at the forthcoming SunBird Sand Music Festival to be held in Malawi beginning on August 29 to 31.
The festival that will be held at Livingstonia Beach in Salima is meant to unite as well as promote the young and upcoming artistes around the world. Nikki said he was well prepared for the tour and was ready to showcase Zimbabwean talent across the borders.
“I have been rehearsing intensively and I am ready to go and show them what we produce in this country.
“I am grateful to the organisers who invited me to the festival based on my last year’s performance,” he said. The music festival which is meant to unite southern African countries through music will see musicians from South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia performing at the event.
Professor from South Africa, Waliko Makala, Black Missionaries and Agoroso are some of the artistes taking part this year.
Nikki started his music career in 2012 with the release of single called “No Matter What” featuring Pierra.
He recently collaborated with the popular Zambian dreadlocked duo called the “Orga Family” who are popular for songs such as “Facebook”, “Pata Pata” and “Khola Khola” among others.
The 23-year-old artiste started his music career in 2011 and is currently studying towards a degree in Human Resource Management at Midlands State University.
