NJUBE Boxing Academy yesterday celebrated two years of existence.

Two years and still counting is a long time in a sport which does not enjoy a good following anymore as they continue through all difficulties to soar in an environment where the sport is less recognised.

The academy is home to many boxers of different ages from youngsters as young as eight years old going up.

The academy celebrated that feat and took out to their social media page to celebrate their own milestone.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, Happy Anniversary to us. On this day 18 January 2022 Njube Boxing Academy was founded. It is set up for keeping the youth off the street and engaging them into a physical activity that all of them can do.

“Njube Boxing Academy prides itself on being a place where people of all genders, abilities, age and fitness levels can attend and have a feeling of achievement and self-worth,” the academy stated.

The academy is located at Njube’s Desert Stadium and it is open for people of all ages and gender to join.

Boxing national team coach Marco Sibanda also applauded the efforts which have been put in the running of the academy.

“It is something to be very proud of as boxing people from Bulawayo. A lot of people take this sport for granted, therefore it blocks the opportunity for the few ones who have the dream of one day becoming good boxers. I would like to congratulate the academy on such a massive achievement in a care-free environment. I also plead to well-wishers to also help the academy with boxing and gym equipment whenever they get an opportunity to do so,” said Sibanda.
