MATABELELAND North’s Nkayi District is no longer just a rural dot on the map — it’s being polished into a cultural and tourism diamond, ready to shine on the international stage!

During a glitzy two-day Imiklomelo kaDakamela Awards ceremony at Dakamela Grounds, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Barbara Rwodzi summed it up :
“Nkayi and Binga are our new cultural crowns — and the world must see them!”

In front of a cheering crowd, Minister Rwodzi passionately declared that it’s time for Zimbabwe to showcase more than just Victoria Falls, spotlighting Nkayi’s rich traditions, music, dance, and mouthwatering cuisine as must-see attractions.
“We’re building a cultural centre at Chief Dakamela’s home — tourists will eat, dance, and live our heritage!” she said.
From traditional dishes to heart-thumping drumbeats and storytelling around the fire — visitors will soon get the raw, unfiltered Nkayi experience.
Rwodzi made it clear:
“Everything in Zimbabwe is heritage — from our animals to our people. The world must see it ALL!”
The initiative isn’t just about vibes — it’s a strategic move to spread tourism dollars, drive rural development, and reshape global perceptions of Zimbabwe.
