WHO SAID PRISON CAN’T HAVE A PARTY?
Khami Maximum Prison threw away the usual gloom on Friday and turned up the good vibes as inmates got a rare chance to laugh, eat, and dance with their loved ones during the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Family Week.
In an emotional and joy-filled scene, families flooded the prison’s education hall — plates piled with braaied meat, snacks, and cold drinks as laughter echoed behind the high walls.
Even the kids were allowed in — a rare sight as they hugged fathers and uncles many hadn’t seen in months or years.
But the highlight of the day was definitely DANCING BEHIND BARS!
Inmates hit the dance floor hard in the courtyard, letting loose as Khaya Arts and a local bread company pumped up the beats, turning the maximum-security facility into a mini-festival zone.
ZPCS Family Week is a national initiative running across all prisons — giving inmates seven special days to reconnect with the outside world, feel loved, and remember what they’re working towards.
From concrete walls to family hugs, from silence to song, Khami lit up with hope, humanity, and a whole lot of heart.
