WARRIORS’ marksman Kingston Nkhatha says he is ready for the South African Premiership season which kicks off on Friday evening.
Nkhatha, scorer of a gem of a goal against Mpumalanga Black Aces in a 4-0 win on Sunday in the MTN8 quarter-final, believes preparations have gone well.

He said they were eyeing a good start to enhance their championship chances. Nkhatha said this would be the year for his club to reclaim the championship title they won in 2012/13 but they were edged by Mamelodi Sundowns to it last year.

The former Black Leopards ace told Chronicle Sport on Monday evening: “It’s always great to score goals for a big team like Chiefs.  It has really built my confidence as we start the league games. Over the weekend I helped my team to quality for the semi-final of the MTN Top Eight.

“That was not my best game at Amakhosi, there is still room for improvement. I thank my teammates for showing enough character and determination in the game against Mpumalanga Black Aces.”

Chiefs demolished Aces 4-0 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Other goals were scored by their skilful midfielder Mandla Masango who banged in a brace and industrious midfielder Reneilwe Letsolonyane.

Reclaiming their pride, he said would not be an easy task.

Nkhatha said the fight starts this weekend when they travel  to Free State to face Free State Stars in a league game at Charles Mopeli Stadium.

On Friday, Cuthbert Malajila, Esrom Nyandoro, Khama Billiat, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Nyasha Mushekwi and Method Mwanjali’s Mamelodi Sundowns open their league account at home to Khumbulani Banda and Terrence Mandaza’s Maritzburg United at Loftus Stadium on Friday ( 8PM)

On Saturday Washington Arubi, Denver Mukamba and Partson Jaure’s Pretoria University will be in action against Polokwane City at Tuks Stadium in Pretoria while Eric Chipeta’s Chippa United battle it out with Patrick Kaunda’s Platinum Stars at Nelson Mandela Bay in Cape Town.

Orlando Pirates will clash with Moroka Swallows at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

George Chigova’s SuperSport United entertains Onismor Bhasera’s Bidvest Wits at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
