IN a bid to spread and nurture squash talent, seasoned coaches and administrators Nishysto Munyoro and Tatenda Mutimutema have successfully launched the NM squash Pros Academy (NMSPROS) at Nomads Squash Club in Cranborne, Harare, on Saturday.

The Academy will cater for children from the age of six to 16, offering training in squash.

The ceremony was attended by Squash Racket Association of Zimbabwe representatives as well as Dr Lucky Mlilo, the Africa Squash president.

Running under the theme “Opening Doors for Children to Discover Squash,’ the event was graced by community leaders, parents, squash players, coaches and umpires.

Munyoro said he was happy to give back to the community through training young squash players for them to fulfill their dreams of becoming professionals.

“We are happy to launch the NM Squash PROS Academy, an exciting new initiative that will give children the chance to experience squash for the very first time.

“The Academy is built on a simple but powerful idea: every child deserves the chance to play, learn, and grow through sport.

“I believe most of the children, who will join us after this launch, will be stepping onto a squash court for the very first time and we hope to open the doors to new possibilities, friendships, and opportunities,” said Munyoro.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring that squash was not just seen as a sport but a profession.

“We want squash to be more than just a sport — it’s about building confidence, discipline, and joy in our young people, our hope is to create a welcoming space where children from all walks of life feel included and inspired.”

The guests enjoyed squash demonstrations and met professional squash players.
