Magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei said the two were not suitable for bail. He said that it was risky to grant them bail considering that Dube has a previous conviction.
According to the State, Dube was once convicted of contravening the Copper Control Act by a Beitbridge magistrate.

The duo was arrested in Westgate and Mabelreign respectively following a tip-off.
Dube was found in possession of 1 140kg of copper cables worth US$28 280 while Gwatirisa was found with 300kg worth US$6 000.
Prosecutor Ms Francesca Mukumbiri alleged that Dube connived with three men only identified as Banda, Clever and William, who are still at large, to steal copper conductors. It is alleged that Dube acquired a cottage in Mabelreign which they used as a safe house.
On February 2, police detectives received a tip-off that Dube was dealing in copper. They went to her house and upon interrogation she confessed about the safe house resulting in the recovery of three big truck tyres loaded with copper conductors, four bolt cutters, hammers and spanners, it is alleged.
She failed to produce a licence authorising her to deal in copper leading to her arrest.
