No gate crushers please, Zifa pleads

ZIMBABWE Football Association (Zifa) general secretary Yvonne Mapika Mwana has emphasised that they will not be able to take care of uninvited delegates at their forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for October 18 in Harare with 60 football mother body’s councillors set to attend.

The Zifa congress is composed of 60 delegates of which 18 are from the Premier Soccer League (PSL). The Northern, Southern, Central Region and Eastern Region Division One Leagues will be having four representatives each.

Bulawayo, Matabeleland South Matabeleland North, Midlands, Harare, Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West and Masvingo Provincial Leagues will each provide a single delegate.

The four Area Zones will also have one representative each, while four will be from the Zimbabwe Women Soccer League.  The National Association of Primary School (Naph) National Association of Secondary School (Nash) Leagues Nash) and National Association of Tertiary Institutions Leagues will have two envoys each.

Beach Football and Futsal Football Leagues will be represented by a delegate each.  The Normalisation Committee (NC) led by chairman Lincoln Mutasa, representatives of the Sports and Recreation Commission representative, Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) representatives will be in attendance.

“Delegates shall be provided with transport, accommodation and meals as well as sitting allowances as stipulated in Zifa’s Financial Policy. Please note that Zifa will not cover the costs of or organize travel and accommodation for any other extra guests other than those prescribed on the delegation list. For logistical reasons, Zifa will be unable to provide accreditations for any delegates other than the officially registered representative,” notified Mwana.

According to Article 24, the members will exercise their voting rights through their official delegates who will also take part in debates of the AGM.

“Each official delegate has a single vote and may not represent more than one member. Also present will be the ZIFA Normalisation Committee members, Secretariat staff, Sports and Recreation Commission representative, Zimbabwe Olympic Committee representative and Auditors representatives. Each member is humbly requested to submit names and passport size photos of their delegates to the Secretariat on or before 31st of August 2024,” she said.

Mwana added: “According to Article 24, the members exercise their voting rights through their official delegates who will also take part in debates of the AGM. Each official delegate has a single vote and may not represent more than one member.”

With regards to proposals and questions Mwana said they should be presented to her office on or before September 17 in accordance with Article 27(1) of Zifa Statutes. As per Article 27 of the Zifa Statutes, all relevant official documents to be used at the AGM will be dispatched to all members September 18.
