SUSPECTED drug dealer, Davison Gomo (27), will remain in custody after the High Court dismissed his bail application.
High Court judge, Justice Benjamin Chikowero, dismissed Gomo’s appeal saying the magistrate, who presided over his matter, was satisfied that the State had established balance probabilities that he was not a proper candidate for bail.
The court said Gomo is not only facing a serious crime, but the gravity was enhanced by the quantity of the crystal meth involved.
About 21.713kgs of crystal meth and 1kg of cocaine, which was said to belong to Gomo, were confiscated at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, after a clearing agent notified the police.
The court said the State had a strong case against Gomo and there was an incentive for him to flee.

It is the State’s case that on March 27, CID Drugs and Narcotics received information that Gomo was about to smuggle crystal meth and cocaine, out of the country.
The drugs were concealed in a consignment of 23 sealed metal pulleys stashed in three cardboard boxes destined to Manila, Philippines, from South Africa.
The detectives opened the pulleys at the Aviation workshop with a grinder and found that the boxes contained drugs and Gomo was arrested.
However, Gomo told the court that he knew nothing about the drugs and did not know the clearing agent.
The court said Gomo did not give a meaningful defence.
The investigating officer told the court that the call history in Gomo’s phone showed that he called the clearing agent several times.
