GMB general manager Mr Albert Mandizha said the self-cleansing exercise is set to continue as the organisation aims to eradicate all forms of abuse of office as it positions itself for a major restructuring which will result in the separation of the Strategic Grain Reserve and the Commercial Operations.
Working on a tip-off, the general manager directed the loss control department to investigate cases of a fraudulent nature in Matabeleland North and Bulawayo provinces involving seven GMB employees and some members of the public.
Mr Mandizha said so far 87 employees had been dismissed for offences ranging from corruption and fraud since the current board and management assumed leadership in 2007.
This has been achieved through adoption of internally driven zero tolerance anti-corruption combating strategies.
“The blitz on corruption and fraud within GMB is continuing throughout all provinces and appropriate action will be taken against anybody who is caught on the wrong side of the law without fear or favour. There will be no sacred cows,” he said.
