Residents in some parts of Harare are set to go for 24 hours without running water due to a technical fault at the Warren Park Control Station. Harare City Council acting corporate communications manager Mr Michael Chideme said there will be a complete shutdown in the northern and eastern suburbs, heavy and light industrial areas as well as Harare central business district and the Avenues area.
“Harare City Council advises its water customers in the northern and eastern suburbs, heavy and light industrial areas, Harare Central and Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, part of the CBD and Avenues that the low pressure they are currently experiencing is as a result of a breakdown at the Warren Park Pump Station,” said Mr Chideme. “We are going to completely shut down the pump station on Wednesday at 5pm up to Thursday at 5pm to allow for the repair of the broken down pipe.”
Mr Chideme said the shutdown will result in no water going to the affected suburbs during the maintenance period with normal water supplies resuming on Friday.
