No zero percent pass rate

Speaking during NAPH’s annual conference in Masvingo, Mr Rudanda said the preliminary provincial exami­nations would help primary schools to identify areas where indi­vidual Grade Seven pupils have a weakness before they sit for the final examinations.
“We have come up with a new set of measures that we hope will improve the pass rate in primary schools through­out the country and chief among those measures is the intro­duction of prelim­inary provincial examinations for Grade Seven pupils to prepare them for their final Zimsec examinations. The preliminary provincial exami­nations are mandatory in all the provinces and most provinces have already intro­duced them. I want to boldly say that as NAPH we will not tolerate a primary school that records zero percent pass rate at the Grade Seven Zimsec examina­tions with effect from the year 2014,” said Mr Rudanda.
Mr Rudanda said his organisation was going to closely work with the Min­istry of Education, Sport, Arts and Cul­ture to make sure that the tar­get was achieved.
