Nobuntu set for maiden Canada tour

Globe-trotting all-female hip-hop ensemble group Nobuntu are set for their maiden tour of Canada as they continue to export their unique brand of song and imbube dance around the globe.

The group is set to visit Canadian cities Toronto, London, Kitchener and Monitoba starting in April.

Like other groups of their ilk, many of who come from the City of Kings, Nobuntu have found joy in foreign concerts and festivals where their energetic and engaging stage act is a novelty to fans searching for the finest traditional stage work from the continent. This in turn has made it one of the most travelled groups from Zimbabwe in the last few years.

Since the release of the groupas debut album Thina in 2013, life has been a non-stop journey for the five women ensemble which has toured countries that include the Czech Republic, Germany and Belgium.

The group finished 2015 on a strong note, performing together with fellow imbube group Insingizi in Austria while one of their songs Narini went to the top of the charts with the video for the song Narini topping Zambezi Magicas Top 10 charts.

Made up of Zanele Manhenga, Thandeka Moyo, Duduzile Sibanda, Heather Dube and Joyline Sibanda, Nobuntu is an a cappella group made of five of the finest talents from Bulawayo.

Their repertoire, which has managed to capture the hearts and minds of those who have seen them perform around the globe, is a fusion of traditional Zimbabwean rooted music, gospel, Afro-Jazz and crossover in pure voices with minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as mbira and some dance movements.
