adminPRETORIA. – Former Black Leopards centre-back Victor Kamhuka has resurfaced at Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies.
Kamhuka joined Pretoria Callies as a free agent and signed a six-month contract.
After recently receiving his work permit, the gangly defender is eligible to play for the Pretoria-based side.
He brings a wealth of experience to the Callies, having played in the DStv Premiership before soaring high in Asia.
The 32-year-old spent most of his career in Asia, playing in Myanmar, Malaysia and India.
“I am here to help the team move out of the relegation zone, stay in the league, and possibly start gunning for promotion next season.
“To be honest, I had offers from clubs in Asia, but I decided to join Callies on a short contract. The club is willing to give me a full year, but we are yet to reach an agreement.
“Currently, my focus is being active since I have been unattached. Playing near my home and family in Zimbabwe also gives me a sense of security,” Kamhuka told FARPost.
Kamhuka is particularly thrilled by working with former Kaizer Chiefs marksman Collins Mbesuma who he idolises.
Mbesuma was recently named first-team coach at Pretoria Callies.
“It thrills me to be working with Collins Mbesuma. We need no elaboration because he is a legend, and everyone knows that. I adore him.
“With what he has achieved, he remains humble and free to us. The love he has shown me since I joined the club is amazing.
“His interactions with me have been impactful, and I think it is the same with my teammates,” Kamhuka said.
The gangly defender left the DStv Premiership in July 2013 to join Dynamos and later How Mine FC in Zimbabwe.
He switched to Pathachakra in India when How Mine FC was disbanded at the end of 2016.
However, he opines that there have not been many changes since he left the DStv Premiership in 2013.
“I think nothing much has changed. Football is just the same. What is needed is for you to know why you are in South Africa and work extra hard than the locals,” he added. – FARPost.
