THE Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) has promised that no community would be left behind in accessing Information Communication Technologies connectivity throughout the country.

This comes after the regulator partnered with the three mobile network operators (MNOs) to help connect Zimbabwe to the digital world.,

Speaking on the sidelines of the official commissioning of community information centres in Kwekwe, POTRAZ director-general, Dr Gift Machengete, revealed they were in the process of implementing the programme throughout the country.

“We are in the process of relocating some towers where they are collocated. Where we have three towers we are removing two and locating them in areas which do not have a network,” he said.

He said they had channeled resources to ensure that no community will be left behind.

“We were looking for funds to allow us to cover every part of Zimbabwe.

“Right now we are using our own resources to make sure that we take network coverage to every conroner of Zimbabwe.”

Machengete urged  community cooperation to guide and guard the information centres.

“Vandalism is a problem, so wherever we commission community information centres, we appeal to the community to guard against vandalism because these assets belong to the community because they benefit everyone.”
