ZIMBABWE Cricket continues to integrate former national team players into technical teams of the national women’s sides.
The country’s first senior women’s team captain, Julia Chibhabha, is the Convener of Selectors for both Under-19 and the Lady Chevrons.
Her teammates, in the first-ever international match played by Zimbabwe, Nonhlanhla Nyathi and Sinikiwe Mpofu, have roles too in national teams.
Mpofu is the Lady Chevrons’ assistant coach, while Nyathi, wicketkeeper for Zimbabwe from 2006-2017, is acting assistant coach for the Under-19s.
Another of Julia’s former teammates, Precious Marange, who is still playing for Zimbabwe, is the Under-19 fitness trainer.
The Zimbabwe Under-19 is currently in India for a training camp in preparation for the ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup scheduled for January in South Africa.
