Northern Region Division One League to take break

Black Rhinos will go to the mid-season break leading the race on 33 points from 15 matches having won 10 games, drawn three and losing two.
Chauya Chipembere have been languishing in the country’s second tier league and are desperate to fight for their place back into the Premiership.
Rhinos’ coach, Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera remains defiant that his team has bright chances of winning the league championship.
“The season is tough because all leading teams have so far exchanged top spot and we are only separated by few points which makes it hard for everyone.

“We are not worried about what other teams are doing, we just want to concentrate on winning our games and maintain our position at the top.
“We are going to bring in new players, most preferably two midfielders and two strikers, so that we remain strong as the real battle awaits in the second half of the season.

“At this point in time I can’t reveal the players we are targeting because it might disrupt our talks but one thing for certain is that we are going to beef up our team.
“I would also want to give a lot of praise to the match officials for a job well done in this first period of the season.
“If they maintain their performance l am sure we can send more officials to the 2014 World Cup,” said Saruchera.

Most teams have remained tight-lipped on their targets.
Ambitious Harare side Twalumba have made it clear that they won’t be busy on the market but instead they will promote their juniors to the senior side.
“We have enough players in our team, we have six players at Gutu High School, 10 at Marlborough High School, two are at Dewure Mission and two at Conway.

“We are going to bring some of them to the senior team because our thrust is to develop these players so it’s just a matter of looking at the ones we can promote during this period.

“It will be unfair to go on the market and acquire new players when we have capable youngsters in our ranks,” coach, Wilson Mutekede, said.
Twalumba completed the first half of the season on high after trouncing another title contender DStv Rangers 3-0 in their last match.

Before that win Twalumba had struggled with their game winning one, drawing two and losing one in their last four matches.
They are sitting on fifth place with 26 points from 15 matches and are trailing log leaders Black Rhinos by seven points.
