THE Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) will go on a mid-season break after this week’s midweek fixtures and return on August 2.
The first half of the season has delivered intense competition, with newcomers N’ombeyawora shocking the league by topping the table with 38 points, tied with second-placed Agama.
The two teams are only separated by goal difference, setting up a fierce battle for supremacy when action resumes.
Black Rhinos, who were unbeaten since the start of the season, suffered their first defeat last weekend in a 1-0 loss to Chinhoyi Stars.
The setback saw them drop to third place with 35 points, just three behind the leaders.
Before the break, one final round of midweek fixtures will take place, with key matches likely to reshape the standings.
The NRSL’s first half was marked by thrilling performances and the SupaFIX-sponsored monthly awards, which recognised outstanding players and coaches.
“The league is set to go on a break from July 10 to August 2,” said the league spokesperson Yemurai Dyakonda.
The last round of matches are set for Wednesday and Thursday just before the break.
