Notorious street kid arrested for murder after attacking and killing a 57-year-old man in CBD

Takudzwa Mombeshora, a 20-year-old street kid known as ‘Most Wanted’ at the Copacabana bus terminus in Harare has been arrested for murder.

He is facing murder charges for attacking and killing a 57-year-old man in the city’s central business district (CBD).

The victim, Forbes Jile, was returning home on January 15 after leaving the Big Apple Sports Bar. As he walked along Nelson Mandela Street, he was confronted by Takudzwa Mombeshora and his gang, who are still at large.

The gang members reportedly grabbed Jile’s bag, pushed him to the ground, and began beating him.
While some members of the group searched his pockets, they stole his wallet, which contained US$10, and an Itel 70 cellphone. Jile’s lifeless body was later found by another street kid, who reported the incident to the police.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Jile died from head trauma and subdural hematoma, injuries consistent with the violent attack.

The findings confirmed the cause of death was the brutal beating he endured.

Detectives from the CID Homicide team launched an investigation and discovered that Mombeshora had fled Harare’s CBD following the crime.

He was eventually arrested at Copacabana rank, where he is a well-known figure. During the arrest, Mombeshora turned violent and bit off one of the arresting detective’s fingers.

Mombeshora appeared before Harare Magistrate Apollonia Marutya, where he was remanded in custody for further legal proceedings.

He faces charges related to a third schedule offense and was not asked to plead at this stage. (iharare)
