Regional and internationally acclaimed artistes who inked the deal with Nox’s Ice and Roses record label include South African-based Channel O award winner Buffalo Souljah, Malawi’s Sean Focus and Dane Blaze from Jamaica.
Ice and Roses operations manager Ezekiel Manjengenja said the project was yet to break international barriers for the Zimbabwean musicians and the whole Ice and Roses family.
“This project is probably one of its kind and could break barriers for our record label. The management is in full control of everything. We roped in a Jamaican artiste to spice the compilation as well as to add international flair.
“Nox has been all over the world working flat out to make this project a success. Now the work is intact and he is back in full swing to give his fans new music,” said Manjengenja.
The album was recorded and produced in South Africa at the Ice and Roses studios. It is deemed to be first of its kind to be done by a Zimbabwean musician.
Manjengenja said Zimbabwe-bred DJs in the United Kingdom in the mould of King Alfred and Jah Hanniff have embraced the musical project, saying they were keen on working with them on their next projects.
Jamaican Dane Blaze did not disappoint the budding group that is yet to shake the international music grounds when he was called to add his touch.
Meanwhile, Ice and Roses first lady Mai Prim – who also featured on the album – did very well and is releasing her debut solo album sometime in August.
The budding artiste proved her mettle as one of Zimbabwe’s fast rising female MCs.
To date she has released a single CD that is doing well on the local radio charts.
Ice and Roses is fast gaining regional ground and a lot of local artistes are on the waiting list to be officially signed.
Long-serving urban groovers Maskiri and Trinta are also on the verge of sealing a deal with the label.
