Esigodini-bred model Noxolo Dube is keeping his fingers crossed as she targets to be crowned Miss Ebony Zimbabwe which is set to take place at a date yet to be announced.
Miss Ebony Zimbabwe is a unique pageant that celebrates the beauty and cultural heritage of dark-skinned women.
The pageant promotes natural beauty, with contestants competing without makeup.
This approach aims to encourage traditional beauty standards and promote self-acceptance and self-love within the community.
Dube who is a professional high school teacher is determined to celebrate Zimbabwean culture, empower young girls, and raise the Zimbabwean flag higher on the international stage.
With a background in acting and some modelling achievements including being the first runner-up at Miss Hillside Teachers’ College in 2023 and making it to the semi-finals of Miss Nature Zimbabwe, Dube believes she has what it takes to be crowned Miss Ebony Zimbabwe.
“I am excited to be part of Miss Ebony Zimbabwe which celebrates African excellence and provides a platform for women to empower each other. I believe that as a Zimbabwean woman, I have a responsibility to promote our culture, heritage, and beauty.
“Miss Ebony Zimbabwe celebrates natural beauty and as a contestant, I am proud to be part of a movement that empowers dark-skinned women and celebrates our unique beauty,” said Dube.
If crowned Miss Ebony Zimbabwe, Dube will represent the country at Miss Ebony Africa in South Africa.
“I’m ready to take on this challenge and make Zimbabwe proud. I believe that I have what it takes to be a true ambassador for my country and to inspire positive change.
“My vision is to create a great Zimbabwe where rural girls and underprivileged youth have access to equal opportunities, resources, and support. I believe that by empowering our young people, we can build a brighter future for our country,” she said.
Dube is engaged in a number of community based initiatives that encourage youths to abstain from sex before the age of consent and encourage them to stay away from drugs and other bad habits.
She is the founder of The Noble Performing Arts Organisation — a non-profit organisation that aims to empower rural girls and underprivileged youth through performing arts, vocational training skills, and education.
