NATIONAL Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) Pension Fund clients in partnership with Distributed Power Africa (DPA) have come up with a programme of installing 5.3MW solar panels to beat load shedding.
In a press statement, Divyajeet Mahajan, CEO of DPA Zimbabwe, announced an agreement to install rooftop solar panels at key properties of NRZ Contributory Pension Fund nationwide.
“We are ready to partner with our clients to deliver solutions that meet their energy needs, especially with the current load shedding situation in the country.
“DPA is the renewable energy business of leading Pan-African technology group, Cassava Technologies Combined.
“The installations will be at various locations of NRZ Pension Fund clients such as Bon Marche, Gain Cash and Carry, OK Zimbabwe, Pick n Pay and BancABC.
“They will be a total of 5.3MW.”
Mahajan said the electricity deficit in Zimbabwe has increased and there is increasing demand for organisations to invest in alternative and renewable energy.
“This has resulted in DPA speeding up the rollout of renewable energy solutions for customers across various sectors in Zimbabwe and Southern Africa. By switching to solar energy, we will save over 2 192 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, which will help us meet our obligations to our members, our tenants and the environment,” Mahajan said.
