NSSA hailed for embracing Zim-Asset

Luthando Mapepa
MINISTER of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Senator Prisca Mupfumira, has hailed National Social Security Authority (NSSA) for embracing Zim-Asset’s cluster of improving infrastructure in the country. Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of $6,5 million NSSA Chipinge Commercial Centre, Sen Mupfumira, commended NSSA for its efforts in the fulfilment of Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim-Asset)

“The Chipinge multi-million-dollar project will be implemented during the period 2015 to 2018 which is the life span of the current Zim-Asset planning period. NSSA falls under the Social Services and Poverty Eradication Cluster and infrastructure and housing development makes part of its contribution to Zim-Asset.

“I want to assure the Chipinge community that during the construction period, local labour will be given priority, a move which will go a long way in creating jobs for the community. Even after the construction work, new shops that will open here will create employment opportunities for locals. These are the benefits the local community will derive from this investment,” she said.

Sen Mupfumira warned politicians not to interfere with the project. “I also want to throw a word of caution to the Chipinge community including politicians. This is an investment meant to generate returns therefore whoever wants to take up space at this mall should know that the project is meant to benefit all. This is a business and therefore should be respected as a business,” she added.

Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs, Cde Mandi Chimene, said NSSA made good choice by investing in Chipinge because there were a lot of activities in the district.

“Government wants to thank NSSA for bringing development in this agricultural town. We will make sure that my office will work closely with our all weather friends, the Chinese construction company, Nantong Zimbabwe, until the project is completed after 15 months,” she said.

Speaking on the same event, Chipinge Central legislator, Cde Raymore Machingura, said his constituency welcomed the project which is set to change the face of the town.
The construction of Chipinge complex is expected to take 15 months and upon completion, the mall will be able to accommodate major supermarkets, hardware shops, surgeries, two banks, hair salons, food outlets, offices and other shops.
