Marvelous Moyo Gwanda Correspondent
A GWANDA nurse allegedly lured a 15-year-old girl into having sexual intercourse with him after promising to help her secure employment overseas.Bekezela Moyo, 38, a registered nurse at Manama Hospital, stood accused of raping a Form Four pupil at Manama High School when he appeared before Gwanda magistrate, Olivia Mashaire Mashava on Friday.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to January 30.
Mashaire-Mashava advised Moyo to apply for bail at the High Court.
Allegations by the State represented by Mncedisi Dube are that sometime in September last year, the girl went to Manama Mission Hospital to see her sick friend who was admitted there.
Moyo who was the nurse on duty allegedly proposed love to the complainant.
On another date in October, the girl went to Moyo’s house and found the accused in the company of his workmate one Dlamini.
The two friends were in the sitting room and the complainant joined them.
“A few minutes later, the accused told the complainant to go and sit on his bed in his bedroom and she complied.
The accused person went outside where they were roasting some meat with his friend.
“The accused brought the complainant food to eat and after eating the accused person kissed the complainant as well as fondling her breasts and her buttocks.
“The accused then promised the complainant that he was going to take her to Australia where he would help her secure a job before raping her,” he said.
The court heard that Moyo gave the girl a “morning after” pill which the complainant swallowed and he told her that the pill helped to prevent pregnancy.
Dube said Moyo raped the complainant again soon after.
He said Moyo who had unprotected sex with the girl, gave her another “morning after” pill which she swallowed before being intimate with her for the second time.
The girl allegedly left Moyo’s place at around 7PM.
Dube said upon realisation that it was late and would not be admitted into the school premises, the girl went to a pastor’s place and spent the night there.
Police received a tip-off through an anonymous letter resulting in Moyo’s arrest.
