WHEN Blessing Hakutangwi first penned lyrics during his secondary school days at Bumhira Secondary School in the scenic mountains of Nyanga, few could have imagined the fire he was igniting.

Today, the 24-year-old, fondly known by his stage name, Busy Bule, is steadily making waves in Zimbabwe’s reggae and Zim-dancehall scenes, with dreams as big as his talent – and the confidence to match.

Growing up in the rural heart of Nyanga, life was never easy for the passionate musician.

Yet, it is precisely this backdrop of resilience and simplicity that has shaped the soulful, relatable narratives embedded in his music.

Since stepping into the studio in 2020, he has released three singles– Moyo Wangu, Rwendo and Usandikanganwa – which could have made more impact had they been extensively marketed.

His latest offerings, Usandikanganwa and Zvichapera, have been well-received and are already being tipped as potential breakout tracks.

The songs are born from life’s everyday battles and victories, capturing the struggles, hopes, and aspirations of ordinary people — particularly those who, like him – come from humble beginnings.

“My music speaks for the voiceless,” he told Weekender Entertainment.

“I want people from rural areas, people who feel forgotten, to hear my songs and believe that they, too, can make it one day.”

Drawing deep inspiration from Zim-dancehall music heavyweights, Killer T and Tocky Vibes, the lyrically-gifted artiste mirrors their lyrical depth and powerful storytelling, while carving out a voice uniquely his own.

While the journey has not been without its challenges, Hakutangwi has never stopped believing.

“There were times I had no resources, no studio time, and no one to mentor me. But I have always known that music is my path. Giving up was never an option,” he said.

Blessing’s sound blends reggae roots with dancehall energy, and his vocals carry an emotional weight that connects deeply with listeners.

Each song is crafted with meaning, which is a true reflection of the people, places, and experiences that shaped him.

With raw talent, lyrical maturity, and an ever-growing fan base, Hakutangwi now sets his sights on reaching bigger stages, performing live for larger audiences, and ultimately sharing the stage with his idols.

“I dream of the day I will perform alongside Killer T or Tocky Vibes. I keep envisaging the day. I know the journey will not be easy, but my passion will take me there. I am truly grateful to the people who keep supporting my dream.

“Nyanga is a small town, and recognition may not come easy, but I am working on popularising my brand, while at the same time inspiring other youths. Although my two singles have already hit the streets, I will release two more singles before the end of this year since I already have some unrecorded songs,” he said.

As Hakutangwi continues to promote his singles and build a name in the competitive music scene, his voice from the valleys of Nyanga, continues to inspire and represent a new generation of dreamers.
