Nyamhara Clinic completion to bring healthcare closer to Gokwe North

THE Government continues to transform rural healthcare services across the country, with the upcoming Nyamhara Clinic in Gokwe North District set to benefit thousands of villagers.

This new clinic project stands as a testament to the Government’s commitment to improving access to healthcare in rural areas — bridging service gaps and bringing much-needed relief to communities that previously had limited access to medical facilities.

The clinic will be a significant boon for local residents who, until now, have had to walk approximately 10 kilometres or find transport to reach the nearest healthcare centre.

Constructed using devolution funds, the initiative aligns with the Government’s vision of ensuring no one and no place is left behind in the provision of healthcare services.

Gokwe Chireya Constituency legislator and Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Cde Torerai Moyo, reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to its inclusive development agenda.

“Nyamhara Clinic in Gokwe North is now nearing completion, thanks to the Government’s devolution programme. The construction of this health centre clearly reflects that the Second Republic is delivering on its promise to improve healthcare access in rural communities,” he said.

Minister Moyo noted that, like many other rural communities, villagers in Nyamhara previously had to walk long distances or commute to access medical care.

He commended the Government’s disbursement of devolution funds, stating that the burden on villagers would now be eased through improved access to healthcare.

“The Government made a commitment to the people, and devolution funds are proving to be a game changer in terms of development. During our 2023 election campaign, we pledged to uplift communities — rural and urban alike — and this project is part of fulfilling that promise.

“The Second Republic has taken a deliberate step to develop all communities across Zimbabwe, staying true to its mantra of leaving no one and no place behind. By investing in rural healthcare infrastructure such as Nyamhara Clinic, the Second Republic is working towards achieving equitable healthcare access for all Zimbabweans,” he said.

One of the villagers eagerly awaiting the clinic’s completion, Ms Esnath Chinyanga, praised the Government’s efforts in addressing local challenges through infrastructure development and the use of devolution funds.

“In 2020, I gave birth to my second child while on my way to the clinic, and since then I’ve been hesitant to fall pregnant again,” she shared.

However, she said her fears are gradually easing as the Nyamhara Clinic nears completion.
“I had a traumatic experience giving birth on the way to the hospital. Since then, I’ve been afraid of getting pregnant again due to the lack of a nearby clinic. But now we’re happy — soon we’ll have a clinic close by, and we’ll be well cared for,” she said.
