Nyaradzo Group finance director Tendayi Kanjanda lands top post

Nyaradzo Group finance director Mr Tendayi Kanjanda has been elected president of the Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute of Zimbabwe (CGIAZ).

He pledged to steer the profession toward ethical leadership and digital transformation in an era defined by artificial intelligence.

With more than two decades of executive and board-level experience, Mr Kanjanda’s election signals a decisive shift in Zimbabwe’s governance landscape emphasising professionals to adapt to rapid technological change, critical for national development and investor confidence.

In a statement, Mr Kanjanda said the central theme is equipping governance professionals with both technical and ethical skills to navigate AI-driven change.

“My presidential theme is ‘Future-Proofing Governance: Developing Ethical Leaders in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.

“As the world embraces rapid technological change, governance professionals must be equipped not only with technical competence but also with the ethical leadership skills necessary to guide organisations responsibly,” he said.

He plans to expand CGIAZ’s membership base and enhance value creation through training, mentorship and digital platforms.

“We will also increase our outreach efforts to universities, corporates and public sector institutions while enhancing member engagement through digital platforms.

“We will actively engage regulators, policymakers, corporates and investors on governance matters,” said Mr Kanjanda.

He further emphasised the importance of nurturing young professionals, positioning students as the future of the chartered governance profession.

“We will strengthen mentorship programmes, create networking opportunities, facilitate career guidance workshops and work closely with academic institutions to support students throughout their professional journey,” he said.

“Our Institute serves professionals at different stages of their careers. We will develop programmes tailored to the unique needs of each group while creating opportunities for mentorship and knowledge transfer.”

He tied CGIAZ’s mission to Zimbabwe’s broader development agenda, emphasising governance as a foundation for economic growth and sustainability.

“CGIAZ has a significant role to play in promoting good governance, ethical leadership and accountability.

“These are critical foundations for economic growth, investor confidence and sustainable national development,” he said.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled by the trust placed in me to lead this prestigious institution and encourage all members, students and stakeholders to actively participate in the growth of our institute.”
