Nyatanga hails Zifa, PSL

Zifa for the way they are running football and said recent events suggest a bright future for the game.
Nyatanga also appealed to Harare businessman Farai Jere to reconsider his decision to quit CAPS United saying such a move would paralyse the Green Machine.
The ZNSSA leader said the decision by SuperSport to broadcast live the league match between Dynamos and Motor Action was a move in the right direction for local football.

Nyatanga said PSL leader Twine Phiri was proving, with each passing month, to be a very capable captain of the ship who was destined to take the top-flight league to greatness.
“We would like to thank the PSL for striking a deal with Mbada Diamonds, which has given our football a new face,” said Nyatanga.
“We are also happy to see that efforts are being made to try and get SuperSport to come on board and acquire the television rights for the league.

“As soccer supporters we are happy that the game is showing signs of moving in the right direction and we want this to be the start, and not the end, of our revolution.
“Once we get SuperSport on board, it will take away the burden from the clubs who have to battle just to raise operational capital.
“We are really excited about all these developments and we believe next year our football will be on another level.”

Cup games re important for our league as they bring out competition and we are happy for that.
Nyatanga said Zifa boss Cuthbert Dube and his team were also taking football forward.
“The issue of bringing foreign referees was another good decision as it showed that they are ready to do everything to ensure Fair Play prevails,” said Nyatanga.

“We are not taking anything away from our local referees but it was something, which we believe was a good move given all that had been said in the past few weeks.
“Zifa acted accordingly and we salute them and our challenge to our referees is for them to pull their socks up and we are happy that we didn’t get any negative reports when they came back on duty on Wednesday.

“Ndumiso Gumede, who is now chairing the referees’ committee, has made it clear that he remains committed to local officials and we challenge Zifa to keep our match officials updated with the changes in the game all the time.”

Nyatanga also encouraged Zifa to focus on the World Cup qualifiers and prepare well for the tournament.
“We always have a problem with our preparations, especially when going into qualifiers and I think from now it will be a thing of the past,” said Nyatanga.

“It’s good that the soccer mother body has managed to organise a high-profile friendly match against South Africa and that will help us a lot.
“I hope we are going to have many games of this magnitude.”

Nyatanga said sponsors like Mbada Diamonds needed to be applauded for the role they were playingin the game. “Mbada have really changed the game in Zimbabwe and they have shown other sponsors how it should be done and we salute them,” said Nyatanga.

“Let’s handle them with care and we want the best team to win the league title and there should be no violence at Mandava because this is just a game.
“FC Platinum have invested a lot in the game and if they win, they deserve it and let’s not view them with suspicion because that will be very wrong.

“Dynamos have fought like true giants and if they win, let’s give them their respect.”
Nyatanga said it was sad Jere was leaving CAPS United.

“It is sad that Jere has quit CAPS United and our message to him is that he should reconsider his decision because he was a good man in our football,” said Nyatanga.
“Zimbabwe football need dynamic young guys like Jere and we feel he should take time and reconsider his decision.

“He had built very good relations with players and the fans and you just don’t destroy something that you have built over six years in one day.
“Every house has its problems and challenges but we should find ways, all the time, to resolve them and we feel Jere is badly needed at CAPS United and we are going to send a delegation to talk to him.”
