A 23-year-old Nyazura rapist has been slapped with a 20-year jail term for raping a six-year-old girl.
In statement, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said: “A 23-year-old man from Nyazura appeared before the Rusape Magistrates’ Court on rape charges.

“On the 15th of October 2024, the convict approached the six-year-old girl who was outside a kitchen and carried her to a nearby hill. They got into a cave and he ordered her to remain silent.

“The convict removed the complainant’s clothes before raping her. After committing the offence, he ordered her to return home.

“The matter came to light the following day when the complainant confided in her grandmother about the offence. A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the convict.”

According to NPA, the man pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.
