SHEASHAM coach, John Nyikadzino, says he is satisfied with his squad ahead of the start of the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
The Gweru-based side gained promotion to the PSL by winning the ZIFA Central Region Division One League after seeing off the stiff challenge of TelOne.
Nyikadzino said their immediate task is to safeguard their status in the PSL.
“We want to consolidate our position in the PSL. We are satisfied with what we have and we have signed young ambitious players.
“We have long-term plans with the squad and we are very confident they will deliver. My job as a coach is to improve those youngsters, hence we have set a realistic target for ourselves,” he said.
Sheasham host Dynamos in a pre-season friendly match at Ascot stadium today, and Nyikadzino said the game will give him an opportunity to gage how his players cope against a top PSL side.
“I am happy Dynamos agreed to play a friendly against us. We have a lot to learn from the big boys of the league. It’s a good test for my players in terms of the mental aspect as well as their physique.”
