Nyikadzino to maintain current Chapungu squad

CHAPUNGU mentor, John Nyikadzino, will not be making wholesome changes to the squad which did duty in the just ended season saying the bulk of the players will remain at the Air Force of Zimbabwe side. The airmen finished ninth this season after surviving relegation by a whisker in the 2014 season which prompted Nyikadzino to overhaul the team coming into the just ended season.

Nyikadzino said next year Chapungu supporters should expect a “better performance.” “We expect a better performance next year. As you saw we had a number of changes in the team this season but for next year we’ll not be having a number of changes, we’ll maintain the team,” said

The “Waru Waru” mentor could not be drawn into commenting on where he would want to beef his side in preparation for next season. Despite missing on his target of a top eight finish, Nyikadzino said he was impressed by the overall performance of his team.

“We started badly as a team but I’m very happy with the performance of the players and the confidence of the executive in us. We picked ourselves up and thank God here we’re. Therefore, I’m pleased with the team’s overall performance,” he added.

The airmen had an indifferent start to the season picking just a point in their opening three games before turning the tide in Week Four where they beat Highlanders one nil at Barbourfields.
