Of once rich men with no brains

CAN someone tell me where this once mega-rich dude of ours who struck gold during the diamond rush is?

Yes, I mean this one who had a blockbuster white wedding that brought that chilly resort village about 90km from Blabber’s beloved Ngoda city to a standstill.

They booked the hotel for the whole weekend, sidelining bookings made by international tourists who wished to visit the country.

He splashed greenbacks as if there was no tomorrow.

Yours Truly remember the days when this bozo used to make his deals at that roadside spot which is located half way between the eastern border city and our capital.

With a trunk laden with cash, he would summon his suppliers of the precious mineral to came and trade the stones at that place, far away from the hullabaloo of city noise.

As usual he moved around with all types of thigh vendors who were ever present to quench his sexual appetite that quickly grew as his money multiplied.

Many envied him for his money, not the brains.

The irony of life is that fortunes, in most cases, favour imbeciles who are clueless on how to use the wealth before them.

Often, well-to-do personalities that live a well-planned life rarely come across huge sums of money.

Surely, manhanga anowira kusina hari.

Apparently, not knowing what to do with the money at his disposal, our foolish brother – for lack of a stronger word – went on a junk spending spree, buying run-down public transport vehicles parked at garages dotted in the city.

He, in an instant, rebranded the aged fleet with his famous green and cream colours.

It was a bad idea that quickly backfired months later. A fool and his wealth will soon part.

From the summit of what life has to offer our poor brother plummeted and quickly found himself underground.

He has been reduced to a mere pauper. As I pen this one he has gone into hiding, failing to look eye-to-eye with the multitudes he despised during his heydays.

I once saw him driving this aged caravan going to this plot located just outside Mutare where he had set up a dream fishing project on a dry land.

His friends have fast deserted him.

I am sure many have drawn lessons. May those who helped themselves to his fortune spare a thought for him and extend a few greenbacks to him, surely we miss him our dear brother.
