TWO defeats in the opening matches of the National Rugby League have left former champions Old Hararians under a lot of pressure. The Old Boys have suffered defeats at the hands of two of their biggest rivals, a 20-35 loss to Harare Sports Club, and a 12-28 defeat to Old Georgians.
Costa Dinha’s men sit in sixth place, one place above bottom side Southern City.
The Dragons are in pole position as they are unbeaten in three games.
Dinha believes a lot of work needs to be done before they get back to winning ways.
“Our team has not done well and a lot has to be done if we are to win our remaining fixtures,” said Dinha.
“Old Georgians executed everything well in defence and offence.
“We probably have better talent, on paper, but it hasn’t gelled yet. It is something which we really need to work on.
“It is still too early in the season but two loses (in a row) is not good for our team. It is high time we win. We have lost to competitive sides so far.
“Our defence was very poor. We were not closing the field properly and we were not covering much ground.
“We have to ensure we work harder in our coming fixtures.”
Their rivals, Sports Club, have been impressive and have won all their opening three matches.
Daniel Hondo’s side are now on 12 points after winning all their league fixtures.
Sports Club are not the only team on 12 points.
Old Georgians, who are under the guidance of Grant Mitchell, also have 12 points after winning their three matches.
Club captain, Kudzai Muzorewa, feels the chances of winning their remaining fixtures are high.
Police and Southern City of Chitungwiza are also yet to register victories.
