
Tawanda Marwizi recently in Mutare
Mutare came alive on Saturday with different artistes taking turns to entertain hundreds of fans who came at Pick and Save Suprette. Blessing Shumba, Progress Chipfumo, Hosiah Chipanga,Agatha Murudzwa, Brian Samaita and Jusa Mupositori were among the artistes who played at the mini gala that was meant to raise funds for Zororai Old People’s Home.
Several groups performed at the event.Fans started to get into the show around 8pm when Murudzwa took the stage. Despite being heavily pregnant the musician tried to dance much to the delight of the fans. She played songs from her hit album “Press On” leaving fans in awe.
As if this was not enough Chipanga took the stage though he failed to meet the standards that were set by Murudzwa. Though he played some of his yester year hits such as “Kwachu Kwachu”, “Cellphone”, “Mudzimai Wangu” he failed to thrill fans who ended up waving goodbye to the musician. Samaita took the stage after Chipanga and the musician tried to convince fans that he deserves recognition.
He charmed the fans when he said he is being called Tongai Moyo copycat and he will be going all the places copying Moyo’s music. Samaita who left the stage for Chipfumo.
The “Mangerengere” hit maker gave a spirited performance and his band members displayed well coordinated dances that left fans convinced he is still in the game.
Mupositori took to the stage and sampled some of songs from his coming album before paving way for Shumba who was the last artiste to perform.
The musician introduced himself with the song “Mabasa” thanking the fans for supporting the Old People’s Home.
“True Christianity is seen through deeds and what you have done today is something that God will bless you for,” said Shumba.
Fans stormed the stage to get closer to the artiste after he sampled songs from his forthcoming album. It took security close to ten minutes to clear the fans from the stage.
The two songs “Chimwe neChimwe” and “Kutenda” proved to be popular with fans.
Event organisor Blessing Makunika thanked the artists for coming to perform at the event and businessman Esau Mupfumi for providing the venue for free.
