UK-BASED businesswoman Olinda Chapel appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court yesterday charged with cyberbullying.
Chapel is accused of bullying her lover, Desmond “Stunner” Chideme’s ex-wife, Dyonne Tafirenyika, in a Facebook Live video.
She was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo, who subsequently released her on US$100 bail.
Chapel was ordered not to interfere with witnesses, to surrender her passport and to report once a fortnight at Borrowdale Police Station.
The court heard that on December 17 last year, Chapel unlawfully and intentionally generated and sent a Facebook Live video in which she shouted at Tafirenyika, labelling her a prostitute.
Chapel allegedly threatened to “deal” with Tafirenyika and posted the video on social media, accessible to anyone, with the intent to intimidate or harass, threaten, bully, or cause substantial emotional distress, or to degrade, humiliate, or demean Tafirenyika.
She was remanded out of custody to January 16 this year, pending the finalisation of investigations.
Mr Lawrence Gangarahwe represented the State.
