One person died while three others were injured when the driver of a Nissan NV 350 failed to negotiate bends and overturned on the newly tarred, Chachacha-Tongogara highway.
The road which used to be in a bad state is now a marvel after it was recently tarred by businessman, Mr Kuda Tagwirei who also hails from the area.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said preliminary investigations show that the driver was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle before it overturned.
“Innocent Machari (37) of Chegutu was driving a Nisan NV350 vehicle with three passengers,” said Inspector Mahoko.
“On approaching the 26km peg the vehicle veered off the road and overturned. One of the passengers who was in the front seat died on the spot while the driver and two other passengers were injured.
