George Maponga in Masvingo

Over 2000 youths from across Masvingo graduated at Mushagashe Vocational Training Centre (VTCs) on Wednesday after completing various courses.

The graduates completed training in motor mechanics, dressmaking, building, and catering among other courses.

They underwent training at various VTCs in Masvingo province namely Mushagashe, Masvingo Urban, Gutu, and Chivi-Mhandamabwe.

The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training Tinoda x presided over the graduation ceremony.

Minister Machakaire hailed the graduation ceremony for encapsulating President Mnangagwa’s leaving no one and no place mantra as youths living with disability were among the graduates.

This he said is testament to the adage that “disability is not inability”.

The graduation was held under the theme, “Innovate, Create, Elevate: Celebrating Vocational Excellence”.

Minister Machakaire also applauded the increase in female students enrolling for vocational skills training which he says dovetails with the thrust to make Zimbabwe an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.

He also hailed the dedication to the Training for Enterprise concept by VTCs in Masvingo which will create jobs and stem youth redundancy.

The graduation ceremony was attended by senior government officials in Masvingo among them the permanent secretary for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Dr Addmore Pazvakavambwa and others.
