One on one with Tazvivinga

Saturday Leisure Correspondent Givemore Muzariri (GM) caught up with Fortune Tazvivinga (FT) to find out more about her profession.
GM. Who is Fortune Tazvivinga?
FT. I come from a family of four and I am the last-born.
GM. When did you start film writing?
FT. Film writing is an inborn talent that started manifesting itself when I was at Baines Primary School in Northend from 1995 up to 2001.
GM. When did you start acting?
FT. I started acting at Baines Primary way back in 1995 as an angel in a drama about the birth of Jesus Christ and I was involved in many other plays.
GM. Who encouraged you to become an actress?
FT. Many teachers were really impressed with my stage work and they actually encouraged me to continue acting.
GM. When you graduated to secondary school did you continue acting?
FT. I enrolled at Mzilikazi High school and was soon involved in a lot of art and I became famous for public speaking.
GM. Then how did you become a film writer?
FT. I attended a Screen Play Fair at Amakhosi in 2005 and youngsters that I met there inspired me.
GM. How did you use the knowledge that you got from the fair?
FT. In that year I wrote a film called Undying love and I left for a two-year cultural exchange in Germany.
GM. What did you benefit from this programme?
FT. The programme was an eye-opener as we learnt best ways of how to write a film and the people to use on each and every film.
GM. What are you working on at the moment?
FT.I am shooting a film called Inhlanhla and we are almost done with the editing part.
GM. Why did you opt for famous actors in your film?
FT. Because they will carry the story well and at the end of the day we come up with a successful project.
GM. Any words of encouragement to ladies out there?
FT. Everything is possible.
