STUDENTS at the Midlands State University have roped in award-winning producer Oskid to produce a music album that will touch on sexual reproductive health issues.
Called the Cautious Generation, the student ensemble started recording the album with Oskid, the man behind Winky D’s Disappear hit track.
The project, an initiative of the institution’s health services department will have seven tracks and if all goes according to plan, it will be released early next year.
MSU acting director of health services, Tafirenyika Shoko said Cautious Generation were also in the process of shooting a movie on the same subject as well as record videos for the seven songs.
“As an institution, we’re happy that we managed to have Oskid on board as he’s one of the country’s top music producers,” said Shoko.
“The idea of this project is to package sexual reproductive health information in a way which young people can relate to so they make informed decisions.
“Ideally, we hope to launch the CD at the end of January or early February next year.
“We’ll invite prominent musicians to perform in order to make the event more interesting.”
Apart from conscientising youths on HIV and Aids matters, the CD is also a way of launching some of the students music careers.
Some of the country’s music talent including Nox Guni, afro-jazz artiste Aggabu Nyabinde and Tina Watyoka horned their skills at MSU.
