Thomas Tembo
Dear reader, I think you can agree with me that the heir of every throne has to be properly trained, well versed in politics and above all they must have love and passion for their own people.
Young Zimbabweans will succeed our parents in almost every aspect of life and that has driven me to pen this article to my fellow brothers and sisters nationwide.
In every sense, the Zimbabwean environment deserves our attention. The best way to predict a clean, safe and conducive environment is to create it today.
We are not leaders of tomorrow but of today because the environment needs our attention today not tomorrow. Let us take initiative in programmes that have to do with our environment because we depend on it.
We should try by all means to prevent any possible damage to the place where we would like to spend our future on. I therefore call upon every young Zimbabwean to be at the forefront in denouncing all forms of pollution.
I am very happy and will always be whenever I think about Harare’s vision to be a world class city by 2015. This can be achieved as evidenced by the completion of Joina City Shopping Mall which was also part of the vision.
There is no doubt that you would want to join me in applauding the council for such good work that will benefit the nation for a long time. After seeing these developments, we should be drawn to a position of imitating our leaders.
We can achieve this through:
Assessing and evaluating the importance of a safe and clean environment;
Initiating activities that promote awareness of good waste management;
Reducing, recycling and reusing materials and
Staying on guard in reducing all forms of pollution.
As a student, I am kindly encouraging all young Zimbabweans to participate in environment management activities from home to school. Let us initiate awareness activities that promote cleanliness through proper waste management.
