KARIBA-based crocodile producer Padenga Holdings last week commissioned a US$1,2 million wastewater treatment plant, a development that underscores its commitment to environmental sustainability.

Padenga chief executive officer Mr Garry Sharp highlighted the investment’s role in meeting national and global conservation standards.

Mr Christopher Mushava, from the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), commended Padenga for their efforts to mitigate climate change and pollution, emphasising the need for firms to go beyond minimal compliance.

He noted the stricter penalties outlined in the Environmental Management Act, stressing that compliance is now a Government priority.

Engineer Boniface Mfula from the Zambezi River Authority supported the initiative, stating it would help reduce water pollution from Padenga.

He also praised the company for its commitment to responsible environmental practices.
